[The first and second levels of care in endodontics].

文献を検討すると、根管治療の成功率はかなり低いことがわかる。正しい診断を下し、難易度を正しく推定し、「標準治療」に従って治療を行っても、必ずしも根管治療が単純化されるとは限らない。歯内療法専門医（歯内療法学に特化した能力と技術を持つ歯科医師）への紹介は、解決策となり得る。しかし、厳密な「紹介プロトコル」を確立することは明らかではありません。患者へのサービスを最適化するためには、第一線と第二線の間の良好なコミュニケーションが重要です。

Review of the literature shows a rather low success rate in root canal treatment. To make a correct diagnosis, to make a correct estimation of the difficulty, to work following 'standard of care' does not always simplify a root canal treatment. Referral to an endodontologist, a dentist with a specific competence and skills in endodontology, can be a solution. However, to establish a strict 'referral protocol' is not obvious. Good communication between first and second line is important to optimize the service to the patient.
