COVID-19（SARS-CoV-2）ウイルスは、50万人以上の死亡者と計り知れない人的・経済的苦痛をもたらす世界的なパンデミックを引き起こしました。呼吸器系に注目が集まっていますが、これは生死をかけた戦いがウイルスの大群と宿主の免疫系との間で繰り広げられる場所だからです。しかし、腎臓、心臓、脳など他の組織もウイルスの攻撃を受けやすい。このコミュニケーションの目的は、男性生殖系、特に精子細胞がもう一つの脆弱な標的であるという証拠を強調することであり、COVID-19が最終的に男性不妊を誘発したり、感染レベルに応じてこのウイルスの性感染を促進したりする可能性を高めることである。

The COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) virus has created a global pandemic responsible for over 500,000 deaths and untold human and economic suffering. Attention has rightly focused on the respiratory system, because this is where a life-and-death battle is waged between the viral horde and the host's immune system. However, other tissues are also susceptible to viral attack including the kidney, heart and brain. The purpose of this communication is to highlight the evidence that the male reproductive system, particularly spermatozoa, constitute another vulnerable target, raising the possibility that COVID-19 might ultimately induce male infertility and/or facilitate the sexual transmission of this virus, depending on the level of infection.
