目的:

本論文の目的は、研究者、編集者、研究資金提供者、意思決定者によるレプリケーション研究の適切な利用を向上させるために、レプリケーション研究の概念を明確にすることである。

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this paper is to clarify the concept of replication research in order to improve its appropriate use by researchers, editors, research funders and decision makers.

研究デザイン:

概念分析とメタナラティブレビューの手法を組み合わせ、様々な科学分野からの複製研究に関する知識を合成した。複数の検索戦略を用いて、2018年4月以前に発表された関連文献を特定した。文献の根底にある概念的・理論的仮定の共通性と相違点を求め、データを要約した。

STUDY DESIGN: We combined concept analysis and meta-narrative review methods to synthetize knowledge on replication research from various scientific fields. We used multiple search strategies to identify relevant literature published before April, 2018. We summarized the data by seeking commonalities and differences in underlying conceptual and theoretical assumptions in the literature.

結果:

様々な分野からの 152 本の論文が含まれている。分析の結果、複製研究の定義としては、過去の研究の反復、過去の研究の延長、理論のロードテストの3つの主要な定義が明らかになった。複製研究を実施するために必要な属性、条件、複製研究の解釈に関連する懸念事項、多様な複製研究の類型を合成し、組み合わせ、分析した。このメタ・ナラティブ・レビューに基づいて、複製研究の包括的な理論的定義を定式化した。

RESULTS: 152 papers from various disciplines were included. The analysis led to the identification of three major definitions of replication: the repetition of a previous study, the extension of a previous study and the road-testing of a theory. Attributes, conditions required to conduct replications studies, concerns related to the interpretation of replication studies and diverse replication research typologies were synthesized, combined and analyzed. Based on this meta-narrative review, a comprehensive theoretical definition of replication research was formulated.

結論:

本研究は、あらゆる研究分野における知識の健全な発展のために、複製研究が必要不可欠であるという認識を共有することを支援するものである。

CONCLUSION: This study can support the adoption of a shared understanding and recognition of the indispensable nature of replication research for the sound development of knowledge in all research fields.
